Since you seem to have read Taiko, I'm sure you'll get the reference. I had just gotten to the incident at Honnoji, and the image of a disorganized night battle with torches, fire and ash popped into my head. Hot damn, the imagery and wording in that book is such an amazing source of scene inspiration.

I'm really trying to give each character their own unique visual story based on their class, and background. Settings certainly make up a big part of that to me. And thanks about the chop remark, even though it doesn't say anything besides my name, lol.
@Raven: You've gotta practice your html kung fu a little bit and be a bit of a nerd for old arcade games.
@Yasmine: Glad you think the Afflicted are disgusting looking. Most certainly how I want the viewer to feel about them since their look definitely separates the goodies from baddies.
@Bebe: They just want to give your ele a hug. A nice big sickeningly explosive hug.

... and that was the particularly interesting trick there--creating a hideous fiend that is reupulsive, yet does not distract from the overall composition. How you manage to pull these things together so well is beyond me.
Have you been keeping track of how long a piece of that detail takes?

Like Tommy mentioned earlier, the Afflicted look a bit unfinished - and for good reason. Yasmine also said how the background outshined Iron a bit. So to keep from overdoing it on detail, I drew the Afflicted in a very sketchy manner, but still keeping them easily identifiable - this being the reason why I'm so reluctant to go back and add more detail to them.
The blurry effect on them just lessens their detail but also pushes the viewer's perception that you're standing right behind them.

Even though I worked sporadically, I'd say this took me almost a week. RL work and classes just get me sidetracked.
@Frost: Cheers. I may have an idea for your ice ele - assuming you're an ice caster from your avatar.

I remember the Afflicted Warriors having small blue lights for eyes, so I threw that in there just for the sake of giving a bit more facial detail.

I don't see why not. I actually want to take a stab at ornate fabric designs somewhere down the line.
*hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink*

I already got the nerd part going. HTML , yes since I am a web application developer..Arcade games - I used to be addicted to galaga and pacman.Kung-fu - I grew up watching old school Jackie Chan movies.
Does that make me qualified?

Most certainly considering my html skills are remedial compared to yours since you're a web developer.
And to the people interested in having their characters included, feel free to PM me. Screenshots, background stories and any extra info like weapons and armor most certainly help.
The current list of characters I'll eventually be drawing, in no particular order, are:
-Smilin' Sin
-Unnamed Golemmancer
-My brother's Dervish
-Tzu
-Hailfall
These are characters with concepts I have written in stone. Toss-ups I have at the moment include Bebe, Frostkisses and a male Sin who I may or may not fill with my own toon.

Probably. Ritualists seem like a class where cooking up an idea shouldn't be too difficult.
